The Web 2.0 Tool that I chose was Quizlet, this tool is helpful to make vocabulary flash cards, or flash cards for other areas in the reading classroom. When using this tool it is necessary to create an account and you can use the free upgrade that allows you to choose from images and make flashcards or you can upgrade for $10 to get unlimited images that can be uploaded. So first it is necessary to create an account with a password and after that you are able to start using it. First go to the make flashcards tab from the home page. Once there fill in the necessary spots such as subject, and title, and a brief description. Then scroll down to the term slots and add in vocabulary terms that are being discussed in class. After typing in the words click on add images and then type the word of the picture you would like that describes the vocab term and it will give you a selection of pictures to choose from. After deciding on a picture then click on add text and add a description of the word or a definition. After doing this for all the vocab words you would like to make flashcards for go to create set. Then it will give you options of whether to print the words or the word cards. I created vocab word cards from terms that are found in a book about a family camping trip. These word cards can help my students become more familiar with the words that will appear in the book we are reading and help familiarize them by knowing the word, seeing a picture, and a definition. I used words like camping, summer, fishing. These are all words that will appear in the book and the students should know and be familiar with them. I think this is helpful in a reading classroom to help students learn words and they can print the cards out and keep them for a reference. It is a fast and easy way for students to create notecards without spending a lot of time on creating them. It is a fast, easy, and simple way to create cards with vocab words, and can be used in many other ways in a reading classroom. I thought this sight is very easy to use, once an account is setup it is easy enough for the students to go on and create their own flashcards. I think it is very helpful with reading vocab words, terms, flashcards using phonics words. I really reccomend this website for use in the reading classroom.
